Music Making African Style
On the 29th of February 2012 the year 8 students have been part of a busy African day.
We spoke to two students, Tasha and Indra about their exciting session on African drumming. This is their interview. Q. Are you having fun so far? A. Yes we are Q. What have you learnt about African drumming? A. If you hit the drum really hard it hurts your hands. Also about different noises and sounds we can make with the drum when you hit different areas of the drum. Q. what was the best bit? A. hitting the drum definitely. |
Drumming is quite popular in Africa so these students are very lucky to have been able to experience the African Drums.
The students were able to learn a whole routine in just two hours. They did this by using the listen and repeat technique. I went along to hear what they had done and it sounded very good and they had clearly been working extremely well. Most of the students I have spoken to have really enjoyed this day and many would like to do something like this again. Hopefully they can. |
